Even at night, getting to the airport is still bearable. We reserved a taxi for the night and we got there without any problems. If you're keen on public transport, there's a night bus departing from Placa Catalunya.

Check-in was horrible, check on crew said that I needed a label for my suitcase and send me back to the check-in machine.
After not able to get a label but a paper boarding ticket I was allowed to go to the luggage drop off
Really annoying that I needed a paper on boarding ticket instead of digital.

If travelling through gates D or E, make sure to go downstairs to the shops BEFORE passing through passport control, as you are not permitted to go downstairs after passing through gate D/E passport control. Highly frustrating!

Viajamos con un bebe de 10 meses, cargados de bartulos mas el cochecito. Como el avion estaba en remoto nos vimos con dificultades ya que uno de los dos tenia que cargar con el nino en brazos y el otro en cargar el resto del equipaje + el cochecito. Bajabamos desde la 3 planta (no Schengen) hasta la plataforma para coger la jardinera. Sin ay ayuda del personal de Iberia y sin permitirnos usar el ascensor. Gracias a la ayuda de los otros pasajeros que se dieron cuenta de la situacion pudimos bajar. No se como lo haran las personas que viajen solas y con ninos.

Do not make the mistake of going direct to passport control after security check - the shopping area is down the escalator and first timers may make the mistake of going to passport control right away ... once cleared, you cannot return to do shopping. I wonder how much potential business has been lost because of the poor directions after security.

Barcelona's Terminal 1 can be huge and intimidating, but generally works quite well. Now that the airport is connected to the city by metro, the whole arrival to the airport was a breeze. More importantly, night buses also work well, so a middle-of-the-night arrival is not a big deal.

Modern and clean airport. Within 30 minutes you are at the airport from the city center. The signs are clear and there are almost no waitinglines at the security check. The airport itself is equipped good and the building is built very spacious.

A lack of closed waiting areas at the gate causes people lining up across the terminal building. Also a lack of power points within the terminal is old-fashioned when your cell phone's battery is running empty and you carry a digital boarding pass.

Flew from terminal C. The bus to the airport was fine, however the security team were pretty average. Only a handful of people there to go through but seemed to hold everyone up for no real reason. The M level facilities were ridiculous. A sandwich bar that sells out at dinner time....Also, Barcelona in December is only 15 degrees - yet the heaters in the whole terminal is set to above 30....stupid

Terminal 2 at Barcelona is great - unless you're flying to the UK with easyJet. If you are, you are herded into a separate part of the area (boarding area M) where you must go through passport control and then not allowed back through. The small area has a small cafe and a small duty free store and that is all. Boarding is not via an air bridge either.

Had to walk up to the far end of the terminal to reach gate B69 where we have been surprise that we had to go to the aircraft with a pax bus which arrived 15 minutes after the beginning of the boarding. It would have been a good idea to make us board at a closer gate to perform a pax bus boarding.

i always fill my water bottle after the security control. this time i did that at the toilet facilities but only hot water was available, with a strong taste of chlorine. grrrr. don't know if that's a plot to make people buy water.
i also found it amazing that only a couple of books in catalan were available at the Relay shop.

An average airport with a few flaws. Terminal 2 is in desperate need of reform. The customs queues when arriving in Barcelona El-Prat Terminal 2B are a complete joke. Queues were straight back to the escalators on many of my trips. The Lounge facilities are poor. There is not a wide variety of catering. The wi-fi often does not work.

BCN still crap from many aspects. Getting there: train is infrequent, takes to T2, loooong bus ride to (main) T1. Underground slow, calculate w/ 1 hour to downtown. Security: your lane can by down for a few minutes any time as there's no separate belt for secondary inspection - ie. if they pick somebody for secondary inspection from your line, the guy behind the monitor is out for a few minutes. Watch your neighbours, or so... Food is awfully expensive inside. Shopping is plenty, if you need that. NO plugs to charge your phone/laptop in the waiting area whatsoever!! Fistfight for the very few, then sit on the floor.(Welcome to 2017...) All-in-all: T1 is a brand new terminal, but they simply missed the point. Shit happens.

BCN is still a mixed bag... T1 security queue was long, some lanes extremely slow while others going fast. Food is horrendously expensive, only CDG is worse. No plugs to charge phones/laptops in the terminal. For free Wi-Fi, e-mail address is needed - just bear them spam afterwards... Facilities are in a good shape though, shopping options (for whom it matters) are plenty.

Getting to the airport via the Aerobus system is great! Free wifi and very clean bus, The luggage check-in and security were very slow, I think they did like 1 bag per 10 minutes. The facilities and shops are great. lot of shops to see if you have a long layover for instance.

The worst Airport experience in European airports I ever had. Only 1 officer on boarder control for non EU citizens and queue longer than 200 passengers. Waiting for an hour and this remains the same or getting even worse. Terminals D and E have only 1 small cafeteria each and 1 McDonalds so they overcrowded and duty free shops are very small.

Terminal 2 is practically missing all true sense terminal facilities beyond having restrooms. Very limited food services - but at least very expensive. Be aware: NO power outlets/sockets at all in the waiting area! Lucky hunters might found one of them at odd places and take turns with other fellows sitting on the floor, charging phones. Seating is also very limited, need to stand during busy times. Not an airport to spend more time than the absolutely minimal and definitely a shame for a tourist magnet city.

At the airport we were cold. It's summer, there was about 25 degree outside and they turn on the air conditioning (to really cold!) in the lounge. I didn't take wintercoat with myself to Barcelona at summer but pretty sure, it would have been needed.
