As for the United Airlines gates, everything is new and well maintained. SFO is one of United Airlines main hubs so there are direct flight to almost everywhere including amazing international flights, especially to Asia.

Food after security in the international terminal (flying to London) was pretty poor. If you're flying from SFO then make sure you eat before you clear security!

Immigration is a problem in US.
However in SFO the officers are friendly, helpful and VERY nice.
I had an ESTA with OK that wasn?t in the system. I was taken to another office where they scrutiniced all in 10 min and problem solved. And all the time in a friendly manner.

Easy returning to the US. US Passport=less wait getting through customs. Baggage claim was a breeze. I can't recall how I got home to Sunnvale. I believe I took the airport limousine that I booked.

My local airport, so getting to and from is easy. United's self-check in is pretty fast and easy. Boarding area at Gates 88, 89, and 90 can get a bit crowded though.

Took an airport limousine. This was my first international flight to Europe out of SFO. I should have planned and taken CalTrain and BART, but I didn't know better at the time.

SQ lounge is small, breakfast is poor quality, cold and unappetizing. Warm congee served an hour before flight. Time to renovate the lounge and get new service provider.

Great airport with a lot of food options, even on the domestic side. However, Wifi is pretty slow and needs to be worked on. TSA security checks are rigorous as usual but staff were incredible friendly. Southwest Check in is incredibly easy at the airport and bag check in was no hassles at all

Check-in was easy. Security slow due to tables before and after x-ray machines not big enough to handle the number of people/bags try to get through. KLM/AF lounge far superior than DL lounges, better selection food and drink but still not up to UAE/ETD/QTR level.

Big international airport but
retails and food are not better than any regional airport. At least
in International Terminal G. As I only have experienced Newark Liberty I'd say the european int. airports are way ahead by miles!

The slowest bag delivery I have ever seen (almost 30 mins). Staff had to say on PA that bags will eventually come!

The best part of it is the BART integration. The worst are the intermittent WiFi and the constant delays! Also, I missed a Mastercard Lounge.

I find the immigration process to be tedious and slow, not very adapted for international arrivals especially in peak hours where you may have fully loaded wide body carriers arriving. If your fellow travelers are not fluent in English, then the process is going to be even longer, they need more people at peak times!

It was ok. Check-in was amazing, as there was absolutely no line. On security, I used TSAPRE. It went really fast, but the normal security looked a bit crowded with big lines. Wifi was horrible, I couldn't even get connected. There was some retail and food facilities, but a few were open, even though we left at 18.10. The prices were quite ok for airport. I didn't test the wifi. Otherwise, really ok. It's good, but there is improving.

It was alright. In that terminal, it was quite empty. A few restaurants, a few cafes and some shops. Clean though.

Good traffic connection both by car and public transport (BART), although a bit far from the city. Terminals are connected with monorail.

Was waiting on the tarmac for more than 40 minutes due to the airport's rush hour... Not funny! Also the wifi is terrible.

I like most of San Francisco airport, basically because this is the entrance to my favorite city in the world, so that kind of makes me in a good mood.

That said, I have no understanding for the inefficiency of immigration and security in SFO. It really feels like it has been developed to make your travel experience as bad as possible. Same experience when you arrive and leave, just awful. Just go to Newark in New York, and you'll get a totally different experience. Or just about any european airport.

TERMINAL G is pleasant though small. United's lounge is convenient. There's a split lounge for Global Services. Star Alliance Gold uses normal lounge.

United flagship lounge for Businessclass is quite spacious and relaxing, but the food and beverage facilities are so poor. Alcoholic drinks are also for purchase!

It is a disaster!! The airport had two lines, so we basically needed to first go with the line of automated machines and then absolutely the same with humans. Makes no sense!

Horrible experience with going through customs on ESTA. Although asking airport employee if we should go to the ESTA machines instead of standing in the crazy long line, he assured me that I am standing in the right line, we were sent to the ESTA machine just before being almost at the custom booth (1 hour waiting), required to get the ESTA receipt from these machines to get in another line to the custom booths.
